The Rhythm Of Light Public Service Center

The Rhythm of Light Public service center is an innovative architectural and interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of natural elements with contemporary spatial design. Completed in 2014 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, this 588-square-meter facility represents a sophisticated approach to public service architecture, earning recognition with a Golden A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category. The exterior facade features a distinctive biomimetic design inspired by fish scales, incorporating continuously regular structures that create a mesmerizing interplay of light and shadow throughout the day. The building's exterior composition consists of rhythmic, overlapping blocks that allow natural light to filter through strategically placed gaps, resulting in dynamic visual expressions that evolve with the sun's movement. The interior space showcases linear wooden elements with illuminating concaves, drawing inspiration from plant stems and their cross-sections, utilizing their unique textures and color schemes to create an aesthetic language of interwoven lines. The design employs premium materials including Italian grey marble, natural teakwood veneer with steel brushes, black dyed wood veneer, and custom illumination systems. To address site-specific challenges, the structure was elevated to maintain harmony with existing facilities while creating a community-friendly environment. The interior design features an assemblage of cut wooden sheets that extend across the ceilings and flow down the sides, integrated with lighting fixtures to create a fluid, dynamic visual experience. This public service center serves as a showcase for new housing development, offering visitors an immersive experience that demonstrates the potential for elevated living standards through thoughtful design integration of aesthetics and functionality.
