The Residence Of All Purpose Residence
The Residence of All Purpose Residence is an innovative residential interior design project located in Sanxia, on the outskirts of Taipei City, Taiwan, that exemplifies contemporary living spaces optimized for family life. This 150-square-meter residence, designed by Chen-An Tang, represents a departure from conventional interior layouts through its distinctive V-shaped arrangement of public spaces, incorporating the living room, dining area, and kitchen. The design's most notable feature is its unconventional approach to the living room layout, where the designer positioned the couch as the focal point rather than the traditional TV wall arrangement. The grey-blue TV wall creates an aesthetic reminiscent of traditional Western fireplaces, adding warmth and character to the space. The project, completed in September 2015, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning by converting a bedroom into additional public space, drawing inspiration from cloister architecture to create an unrestricted environment for children's activities. The interior is characterized by white walls and ceilings complemented by wooden flooring and furniture, creating a harmonious balance between simplicity and comfort. A particularly innovative element is the composite multi-purpose cabinet system that runs from the entranceway, incorporating shoe storage, display areas, and a unique interactive surface where children can draw. The design, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases a masterful integration of functionality and aesthetic appeal, particularly evident in its storage solutions and the thoughtful consideration of sight lines that allow occupants to enjoy outdoor views from the main living areas.
