The Parallel Blue Aquarium Dining
The Parallel Blue Aquarium Dining is an innovative interior design project that revolutionizes the traditional dining experience by creating an immersive aquatic environment in the heart of Shinjuku, Tokyo. Located on the fourth floor of a mixed-use building, this 94-square-meter restaurant space masterfully transforms a limited area with a modest 2.2-meter ceiling height into an expansive underwater universe through strategic design solutions. Conceived by renowned designer Tetsuya Matsumoto and his team at KTX archiLAB, the project exemplifies excellence in spatial design through its ingenious use of mirrors and reflective aluminum panels, which create an illusion of infinite space while surrounding diners with mesmerizing oceanic scenery. The design's technical sophistication is evident in its careful consideration of structural limitations, with aquarium installations strategically positioned above load-bearing beams to accommodate the building's age and structural capacity. The layout is thoughtfully organized into intimate dining zones, featuring four quarter-circle spaces for couple seating and additional areas with box sofa arrangements accommodating groups of varying sizes.
