The Orchards Residence

The Orchards Residence

The Orchards Residence is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies sophisticated space optimization in contemporary urban living. Located in Hong Kong, this 50-square-meter apartment showcases a groundbreaking approach to spatial design through the masterful integration of light, form, and functionality. The design's centerpiece is a distinctively illuminated bathroom featuring a unique curved glass enclosure with frosted stripes, which serves as both a visual focal point and a connecting element between the living room and bedroom spaces. The interior architecture employs a distinctive snaking line that runs throughout the space, creating a fluid, unobstructed flow between different functional areas. The materiality of the space is carefully considered, incorporating waxed oak flooring and concrete-textured tiles to establish a natural, calming atmosphere. The design solution includes integrated ceiling lighting, particularly notable in the bathroom where a stretched ceiling with LED strips creates dramatic illumination effects. Storage solutions are seamlessly integrated through built-in cabinets in the kitchen and closet areas, while sliding doors enhance spatial flexibility. This residential project, which was completed in February 2016, earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to small-space living and its technical excellence in resolving complex architectural junctions between the stretched ceiling, sliding glass doors, curved panels, and lighting elements.
