The Name of Sewing Residential Apartment is an award-winning residential interior design project that masterfully weaves together personal narrative, industrial aesthetics, and fashion design elements within an 80-square-meter living space in New Taipei City, Taiwan. This thoughtfully conceived project, completed in June 2018 by designer Hsuan-Ta Chiu, draws its conceptual inspiration from the homeowner's profound connection to her cobbler father and her subsequent career as a fashion designer, creating a deeply personal spatial narrative that bridges generations through the metaphor of sewing. The design demonstrates exceptional material sophistication through its innovative combination of titanium-plated panels, stainless steel frames, and glass bricks, which create visual transparency and spatial depth throughout the interior. The living space features a carefully curated industrial-modern aesthetic, incorporating black track lighting and exposed ceiling pipelines, while maintaining a delicate balance between raw and refined elements. A notable design element includes a trumpet-shaped chandelier, symbolizing the father's musical inclinations, while a preserved 18th-century mannequin serves as both a sculptural element and a testament to the resident's fashion design profession.
