The Mountain View Mix Use
The Mountain View Mix Use is an innovative architectural complex situated beside Yanhan Mountain in Shenzhen, China, representing a harmonious blend of nature and urban development. Designed by architects Zhang Bo and Wang Jingjing, this 6,000-square-meter development exemplifies thoughtful architectural transformation that seamlessly integrates commercial, cultural, and creative spaces. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, features a distinctive central courtyard surrounded by an open-air veranda supported by matrix-arranged rectangular steel pillars, creating a sense of lightness and spatial order. The complex incorporates diverse functional spaces including stores, restaurants, art galleries, theaters, and workspaces, all designed to foster a meaningful dialogue between nature and architecture. The building's renovation employed sophisticated materials including self-leveling cement, weathering steel, laminated bamboo, ultra-clear glass, and glass brick, while addressing modern building standards through careful structural reinforcement methods. The design philosophy centered on three key principles: the fusion of art and commerce, the complementarity of dining and workspace areas, and brand-oriented spatial operations. Since its completion in 2019, the complex has become a vital cultural hub, hosting numerous drama festivals, lectures, and art exhibitions, effectively providing urban residents with a contemplative space that facilitates interaction with both nature and art. The project's success lies in its ability to overcome significant technical challenges while creating a sustainable, multi-functional environment that serves as a model for urban architectural renovation.
