The Loop Exhibition Centre, and For Recycling is an innovative sustainable development exhibition center spanning 4,000 square feet, designed to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices within both business operations and daily life. Located inside Devon House in Quarry Bay, Hong Kong, this Silver A' Design Award-winning project exemplifies excellence in sustainable design through its thoughtful integration of recycled materials and interactive spaces. The facility is strategically organized into three main areas: an entry lobby that seamlessly transitions into an experiential corridor, culminating in a main open display courtyard equipped with recycling facilities. The design philosophy draws inspiration from the concept of closing the loop, a fundamental principle in recycling that emphasizes the continuous cycle of resource reuse. The center's architectural approach employs a carefully curated selection of sustainable materials, including recycled timber veneer and recycled material terrazzo flooring, each element chosen not only for its environmental benefits but also to create a cohesive narrative for visitors. Completed in May 2017, this 50-square-meter facility serves as a pioneering example of how exhibition spaces can be designed to both educate and inspire environmental stewardship.
