The Loft Residential Apartment
The Loft Residential Apartment is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies efficient space utilization in contemporary urban living. Located in Singapore, this 52-square-meter apartment maximizes its 4-meter high ceiling through a sophisticated vertical planning approach, effectively transforming traditional horizontal spatial constraints into vertical opportunities. The design philosophy centers on creating a harmonious balance between social and private spaces, achieved through the strategic removal of 90 percent of the wall between two bedrooms to create an open, airy atmosphere. A distinguishing feature is the elevated sleeping area, ingeniously designed as a loft space supported by a carefully engineered cantilever system utilizing hollow sections, eliminating the need for visible support columns that would otherwise clutter the wardrobe area below. The interior incorporates a Japanese cafe theme inspired by CRAFTHOLIC aesthetics, seamlessly blending functionality with playful design elements. The space planning accommodates multiple zones including a leisure area, wardrobe, and coffee corner, while maintaining clear sight lines throughout the apartment. Privacy considerations are addressed through the implementation of glass panels separating the living and sleeping areas, effectively managing sound transmission from entertainment spaces. This design, recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2021, demonstrates exceptional innovation in small-space residential design, successfully combining practical living requirements with aesthetic sophistication.
