Created by designer Chia-Yu Chen, this 112.4-square-meter space exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional I-Ching principles with modern design sensibilities. The design's foundational concept revolves around the dualistic philosophy of yin and yang, expressed through a carefully curated black-and-white color scheme and the strategic manipulation of light and shadow. Notable features include a grand bookcase incorporating symbolic hexagrams representing Heaven, Earth, Family, and Advancement, while the balcony wall features an etched hexagram symbolizing prosperity. The design's innovative approach extends beyond mere aesthetics, incorporating functional elements such as sliding desks in the study area that can be reconfigured to accommodate various activities. The project, completed in 2019 in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its material selection and spatial organization, creating visual layers through linear transitions that symbolize the natural law of constant change.
