The Home Lamp
The Home Lamp is an innovative lighting fixture that masterfully combines architectural elements with functional illumination, designed by Nima Keivani. This sophisticated design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, represents a philosophical exploration of the connection between humans and their living spaces. The lamp's distinctive composition features four house-shaped structures crafted from copper, symbolizing the four fundamental elements of nature, arranged around a central illumination source that represents consciousness and enlightenment. The design employs a thoughtful combination of materials, including copper pipes that are precision-welded together, a matte plexiglass core housing LED illumination, and a frame constructed from lightweight concrete reinforced with GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) fibers. A notable technical innovation is the integrated touch-sensitive dimming system that takes advantage of copper's conductive properties, allowing users to control the 3500K LED light through direct contact with any copper surface of the lamp. The design's dimensions of 54x45x25 centimeters create a substantial presence while maintaining practical functionality. The juxtaposition of warm copper elements against the stark concrete framework creates a compelling visual dialogue between traditional comfort and modern architectural minimalism, while the rotation of light cubes follows the sun's natural movement pattern. This piece, created in 2017, exemplifies the intersection of practical lighting design with deeper architectural and philosophical principles, offering both functional illumination and a meditation on the relationship between human consciousness, built environment, and natural elements.
