The FA.B. Fabric Bookcase

The FA.B. Fabric Bookcase

The FA.B. Fabric Bookcase is an innovative furniture design that revolutionizes traditional book storage through its unique combination of fabric and wooden elements, earning recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category. This groundbreaking storage solution embodies the principles of sustainable design through its dematerialization approach, utilizing birch plywood from sustainably managed forests and recyclable, resilient fabric materials. Standing at 180 centimeters in height, 100 centimeters in length, and 45 centimeters in width, the bookcase features a modular design that allows users to add or remove fabric storage units according to their needs, offering unprecedented flexibility in book organization. The design, conceived by Aliki Rovithi, incorporates several innovative features including a flat-pack construction for efficient transportation and reduced carbon emissions, steel and rubber castors for enhanced mobility, and a dual functionality as both a bookcase and room divider. The FA.B.'s distinctive characteristic lies in its renewable storage capacity, where additional fabric units can be integrated into the wooden stand within minutes, eliminating the need for purchasing entirely new furniture when storage requirements increase. This design represents a significant departure from conventional shelving systems, emphasizing environmental consciousness while maintaining aesthetic appeal and practical functionality.
