The Evergrowing Bank
The Evergrowing Bank is an innovative architectural and interior design project completed in 2019, featuring a distinctive five-storey building facade inspired by the Chinese bamboo tree, symbolizing perseverance and vigorous growth. The design, created by Yan Yik Lun and Marco Choi, showcases a modern interpretation of traditional Chinese symbolism through its sophisticated use of aluminum alloy elements that create a vertical, bamboo-like aesthetic. Spanning 756.5 square meters, the building's most striking feature is its contemporary facade design, which masterfully balances brand elements with three-dimensional visual impact while adhering to strict building regulations. The design incorporates sleek lines and the strategic use of green brand colors, creating a powerful yet elegant visual identity. A notable architectural innovation is the full-height glazing extending from ground level to the first floor, emphasizing transparency and accessibility in customer service. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, successfully overcame significant technical challenges, including a limited projection allowance of 350mm from the existing building, requiring extensive 3D modeling and on-site mockup reviews to achieve optimal results. The design team's meticulous attention to detail and innovative approach to space utilization demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of modern banking architecture, where functionality meets aesthetic excellence. The project represents a significant achievement in commercial architecture, effectively combining practical banking requirements with artistic expression while maintaining cultural relevance and brand identity through its thoughtful interpretation of traditional Chinese elements in a contemporary context.
