The Dawn Residential
The Dawn Residential is an innovative architectural and interior design project completed in 2020 in Taipei City, Taiwan, that masterfully integrates local hot spring culture, natural resources, and historical elements of Beitou into a contemporary living space. This 258-square-meter residential project exemplifies a harmonious blend of Japanese Zen aesthetics and modern design principles, utilizing three primary elements - logs, stone, and hot springs - to create a sophisticated living environment that connects with both nature and cultural heritage. The design philosophy emphasizes the seamless integration of architectural elements with interior spaces through the thoughtful application of solid wood, air-faced concrete, and natural stone materials, enhanced by strategic lighting design that creates meditative atmospheres throughout. The project's distinctive features include granite stone facades, carefully curated gardens, and innovative water features, while the interior spaces are distinguished by natural light penetration through ceiling designs that evoke the aesthetics of natural stone caves. The design team, led by HaoYun Chi and HsingHung Chen, focused on creating a coherent spatial vocabulary that enhances the sensory experience through visual, tactile, and olfactory elements, establishing a profound connection between the built environment and its natural surroundings. The project's excellence in interior space design and its successful integration of cultural elements with contemporary living requirements earned it the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its innovative approach to residential architecture and its contribution to modern living spaces that honor traditional elements while embracing contemporary design principles.
