The Cube Nail Spa is an innovative interior design project that reimagines the traditional nail salon concept through a sophisticated interpretation of the Rubik's Cube aesthetic, earning recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. Designed by Canadian designer Zoe Lee, this architectural space masterfully integrates geometric patterns and thoughtful material selections to create a unique customer experience. The design's distinguishing feature is its continuous ceramic tile pattern that seamlessly connects walls, floors, and counters using 4x4-inch and 8x8-inch pink tiles, creating a cohesive visual flow throughout the space. The interior's carefully curated color palette, combining soft pink hues with copper accents, deliberately deviates from conventional nail salon aesthetics, offering instead a refined, modern atmosphere that balances playfulness with sophistication. Strategic lighting elements featuring copper finishes enhance the warm, welcoming ambiance, while rectangular and cube-shaped shelving units carved directly into the walls serve both functional and aesthetic purposes, embodying the cubic theme that runs throughout the space. The layout incorporates a minimalist reception area, centralized nail service stations, and dedicated pedicure spaces, all unified by the continuous geometric patterns that define the space's character. This thoughtful design approach, completed in Toronto in 2018, demonstrates how interior architecture can elevate a routine service experience into a distinctive branded environment, successfully merging functional requirements with aesthetic innovation.
