The Artist Of Space Interior Design
The Artist of Space Interior Design is an innovative residential interior design project completed in 2016 in Taipei City, Taiwan, that masterfully addresses the challenge of visual space expansion within a 243-square-meter dwelling. Conceived and executed by designer Steven Lee, this sophisticated project demonstrates exceptional spatial manipulation through its strategic use of architectural elements and materials. The design's cornerstone feature is a distinctive staircase placement that serves as both a functional element and a spatial divider, effectively delineating different areas while maintaining visual continuity. The project showcases a harmonious blend of materials, incorporating iron and wood grilles that create dynamic spatial characteristics and enhance the overall aesthetic appeal. The design philosophy emphasizes the dexterous manipulation of space, earning its metaphorical title as the artist of space. The interior scheme artfully balances modern and classical elements, featuring black cabinetry that contrasts with light wooden grains, while elegant wallpapers in the living room manifest a modern classic aesthetic. The mezzanine level accommodates the main bedroom and children's rooms, with thoughtful details such as a crystal chandelier that caters to the client's preference for classical styling. The project's innovative approach to space optimization and visual expansion earned it the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2018, recognizing its excellence in spatial design and material integration. The design successfully creates a seamless flow between living and dining areas, utilizing metal elements that complement the steel staircase while maintaining visual connectivity through strategically placed grilles, ultimately delivering a sophisticated living environment that effectively balances functionality with aesthetic refinement.
