The Accumulation Of Wealth Religion Package And Coin Bank
The Accumulation of Wealth Religion package and coin bank is an innovative cultural packaging design that seamlessly integrates traditional Taiwanese religious customs with modern functionality, created by designers Hui Shan Chen and Shu Wei Chen. This sophisticated design, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, represents a thoughtful fusion of spiritual symbolism and practical utility, drawing inspiration from the Five-way God of Wealth and the Five Elements color theory from Chinese numerology. The package features a distinctive structural design utilizing kraft paper and corrugated paper, assembled without adhesives through an intricate slot system, and enhanced with foil stamping to depict the Five-way God of Wealth imagery. The design's multilayered functionality incorporates four distinct elements: a yellow prayer paper for divine communication, traditional Taiwanese tea bags, cereal symbolizing abundance, and a coin bank component. Each package, measuring 100mm in width, depth, and height, is available in five different colors corresponding to different zodiac signs, allowing users to select packaging that aligns with their personal zodiac and place it in auspicious locations within their homes or workplaces. This design project, completed between October 2015 and May 2016 in Kaohsiung, represents a significant effort to preserve and modernize Taiwanese temple culture, particularly targeting younger generations who have become increasingly disconnected from traditional religious practices. The innovative approach to religious packaging demonstrates exceptional cultural sensitivity while maintaining practical functionality, successfully bridging the gap between ancient customs and contemporary design sensibilities.
