Thalia Washbasin

Thalia Washbasin

Thalia Washbasin is an innovative bathroom fixture that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of natural inspiration and sophisticated craftsmanship, designed by Italian architect Edoardo Petri. This distinctive washbasin draws its aesthetic inspiration from the lotus flower, embodying the organic form of a blooming bud through its unique combination of larch and teak hardwoods. The design showcases a masterful integration of two contrasting wood species, with one essence forming the upper section and the other composing the lower portion, creating a dynamic interplay of natural grain patterns and color variations that makes each piece unique. Crafted through a hybrid production process combining advanced CNC machining and traditional handcrafting techniques, the washbasin features asymmetrical forms that achieve a delicate balance between artistic expression and functional design. Standing 19-21 centimeters in height and spanning 30-60 centimeters in width, this sophisticated bathroom fixture demonstrates exceptional attention to environmental responsibility through the exclusive use of FSC and PEFC certified timber from sustainable forests. The design's innovative approach to material application in bathroom furniture earned it the Silver A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category, recognizing its outstanding contribution to contemporary bathroom design. The washbasin's distinctive characteristics include its tactile wooden surface, which offers users a sensory connection to natural materials while maintaining practical functionality through careful material treatment and oil impregnation for water resistance.
