Teslight Floating Magnetic Lamp
Teslight Floating magnetic lamp is an innovative lighting fixture that employs magnetic levitation technology to create a striking visual effect where the lamp appears to float in mid-air. Designed by Italian designers Andrea Bosio and Alessandro Ballestrero between 2009 and 2011, this groundbreaking lighting solution represents a harmonious fusion of scientific principles and aesthetic design. The lamp's distinctive construction features CNC-machined aluminum components for the main body, a steel base, and carbon fiber for the safety tube, with the lamp itself measuring 8.5 centimeters in diameter and 20 centimeters in height. Standing at an optimal height of 180 centimeters from the ground, the design ensures both proper light diffusion and minimal eye strain for users. The lamp's form factor was meticulously engineered to achieve the perfect balance between lightness and magnetic field strength, utilizing two precisely calibrated magnets to achieve stable levitation. Powered by a 12V system compatible with Osram Decostar ES 35w to 50w bulbs, the design underwent extensive prototyping and testing to determine the optimal combination of magnetic strength and illumination capabilities. The project, which earned the prestigious Platinum A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, demonstrates exceptional innovation in both its technical execution and artistic vision.
