Termalija Family Wellness Swimming Pools
Termalija Family Wellness Swimming Pools is an innovative architectural masterpiece that represents a significant advancement in wellness facility design, seamlessly integrating indoor and outdoor aquatic spaces within a sophisticated structural framework. Located in Slovenia, this remarkable 8,780-square-meter complex features a distinctive clustered structure of tetrahedral volumes that harmoniously extends the visual language of surrounding rural architecture into a contemporary wellness environment. The design's most notable feature is its ingenious roof system, comprising smaller segmented units that create a floating effect above the pool platform while providing essential shade without compromising valuable exterior space. The structure employs a sophisticated combination of concrete and steel construction, predominantly underground, with structural glazing and double cladding facade systems. The building's technical innovation is evident in its large-span roof construction, which utilizes a light steel framework supported by tetrahedral domes crafted from laminated wooden panels. The pool plaza demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, featuring a concrete base with Pebbletech finish that enables complex organic shapes both indoors and outdoors. The facility's design excellence was recognized with a Golden A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to architectural innovation, particularly in its approach to spatial organization and environmental integration. The project's sophisticated geometry allows for virtually support-free pool space coverage, while numerous skylights and fully openable facade glass surfaces create a seamless transition between interior and exterior spaces, exemplifying a forward-thinking approach to wellness architecture that prioritizes user experience and environmental harmony.
