Tamsa Money Bank is an innovative and culturally significant money storage vessel that pays homage to the pre-Columbian Muisca tribe and their rich traditions, particularly the legend of El Dorado. Created by Colombian designer Jose Roca, this contemporary piece seamlessly merges functional design with cultural storytelling. The design, whose name Tamsa means offering in the Chibcha language, consists of two main components: a black matte clay base measuring 244 x 244 x 80 millimeters and a brass-finished steel dish measuring 250 x 250 x 60 millimeters, connected by neodymium magnets for secure handling. This sophisticated money bank transforms the conventional concept of savings storage into an elegant decorative piece that encourages dialogue and cultural appreciation. The design incorporates thoughtful elements such as a protective rubber interior to safeguard against coin damage, while its aesthetic draws inspiration from the legendary ritual where tribal heirs were covered in gold and emeralds before being cleansed in the Guatavita lagoon.
