Tallur L.N.

Tallur L.N. is an acclaimed Indian contemporary sculptor known for his thought-provoking and unconventional works that often challenge societal norms and cultural traditions. Born in 1971 in Koteswara, Karnataka, India, Tallur received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from the Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts in Mysore and later pursued a Master of Arts in museology from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. His artistic journey is characterized by a unique blend of traditional Indian craftsmanship and contemporary conceptual art, resulting in sculptures that are both visually striking and intellectually stimulating. Tallur's works frequently incorporate found objects, industrial materials, and elements from nature, creating a dynamic interplay between the old and the new, the organic and the manufactured. Through his sculptures, he explores themes such as globalization, consumerism, and the impact of technology on society, often infusing his pieces with a sense of irony and wit. Tallur's installations have been exhibited extensively in prestigious galleries and museums across the world, including solo shows at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum, the Grounds for Sculpture in New Jersey, and the Kunstmuseum Bern in Switzerland. His work has also been featured in numerous international art fairs and biennales, such as the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, the Singapore Biennale, and the Busan Biennale. Tallur's contributions to the field of contemporary sculpture have earned him several accolades, including the Skoda Prize for Indian Contemporary Art in 2012 and the Prudential Eye Award for Best Emerging Artist Using Sculpture in 2015. His innovative approach to sculpture and his ability to engage with pressing social and cultural issues have solidified his position as one of the most influential and thought-provoking artists of his generation
