Taikin Corporate Identity is an award-winning comprehensive visual branding system developed for a high-end Asian restaurant, exemplifying the sophisticated fusion of Japanese mythology with contemporary design aesthetics. The identity system draws its conceptual foundation from the Japanese word Taikin, meaning good fortune, and incorporates the mythological figure of the Tanuki, a significant character in Japanese folklore representing prosperity and wealth. The design approach demonstrates remarkable restraint and elegance through a minimalist color palette and refined linear illustration style, successfully reinterpreting traditional Japanese mythological elements for a modern, upscale dining context. The corporate identity encompasses a wide array of touchpoints including menu design, interior graphics, staff uniforms, and takeout packaging, creating a cohesive narrative experience throughout the restaurant environment. The sophisticated visual language employs custom illustrations and graphic elements that tell the story of the Tanuki and other Yokai (mythological beings) in a contemporary manner, while maintaining cultural authenticity and artistic sophistication. This project, which received the Silver A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, showcases an innovative approach to restaurant branding by creating an immersive storytelling experience through various branded elements, from chopstick covers to bathroom wall graphics, effectively communicating the restaurant's premium positioning while honoring Japanese cultural elements.
