Sweet Interstellar Cake Shop
Sweet Interstellar Cake Shop is an innovative retail interior design project that masterfully blends the mystical allure of celestial bodies with the whimsical charm of a contemporary cake shop, completed in 2022 in Jiaxing, China. This 180-square-meter space, designed by Feng Peng, represents a groundbreaking fusion of astronomical themes and culinary retail design, earning recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The design's conceptual foundation draws inspiration from the connection between birthdays and zodiac constellations, utilizing sophisticated material choices including pink rammed earth walls and special frosted mirror stainless steel ceilings to create an ethereal atmosphere. The space's focal point features a star-shaped cake display cabinet, complemented by artistic paint and stainless steel spheres that evoke a cosmic environment. The innovative use of new-generation rammed earth material, which is both waterproof and soaking resistant, presents a distinctive red hue that simultaneously references planetary surfaces and cake textures. The interior's layout is thoughtfully organized around a central planetary-inspired display area, where customers can explore cake selections along a satellite ring formation. The design incorporates a constellation corridor leading to seating areas, and a unique spherical stage for birthday celebrations, creating an immersive experience that transcends traditional retail environments. The project successfully addresses the challenge of conveying spatial infinity within limited dimensions while maintaining a delicate balance between interstellar aesthetics and gastronomic appeal, demonstrating exceptional creativity in commercial interior design.
