Sunrising Interior Design is an award-winning residential interior design project completed in 2018 in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, that masterfully integrates Japanese aesthetic principles with modern living requirements within a 132-square-meter space. The design, created by Yi-Lun Hsu, demonstrates a sophisticated approach to spatial organization, transforming a four-bedroom layout into a more expansive three-bedroom configuration that prioritizes functionality and aesthetic harmony. The project's distinctive features include a warmly-toned wooden floor that serves as a foundation for the overall design scheme, complemented by an exposed concrete television wall that contributes to the space's serene atmosphere. The living area showcases thoughtful integration of natural light through strategically placed windows, incorporating built-in storage solutions and dedicated spaces for cultural activities such as piano playing and reading. A notable design element is the sunrising wall in the dining area, crafted from red cast stone, which serves as a dramatic visual focal point while maintaining the space's elegant simplicity. The design incorporates an elevated washitsu (traditional Japanese-style room) adorned with wooden grilles, creating an interplay of light and shadow that enhances the corridor's aesthetic appeal. The project, which earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, exemplifies excellence in interior space planning through its harmonious blend of natural elements, including indoor plants, sophisticated material selection, and careful attention to lighting design.
