Sunac Wanda Realm Kunming Nightscape Design

Sunac Wanda Realm Kunming Nightscape Design

Sunac Wanda Realm Kunming Nightscape Design is a sophisticated architectural lighting project completed in December 2019, encompassing a vast 70,000 square meter area that masterfully integrates traditional Chinese architectural elements with contemporary lighting solutions. This innovative lighting design scheme, which earned a Gold A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, demonstrates exceptional cultural sensitivity by incorporating the traditional aesthetics of local ethnic minorities while maintaining a harmonious balance between modern illumination techniques and ancient architectural charm. The design philosophy centers on the concept of symbiosis between architecture and people, utilizing warm white tones (3000K color temperature) and carefully calibrated brightness gradients to create distinct visual nodes throughout the space. The lighting solution employs a combination of wall washers, small-sized spotlights, and custom-designed luminaires to achieve a refined nocturnal atmosphere that respects the building's classical Chinese architectural style. The project's technical innovation lies in its sophisticated approach to brightness distribution, creating a hierarchy of illumination that provides optimal visual comfort while avoiding monotony. The design's implementation required extensive customization of lighting fixtures to preserve the authentic character of the architecture while meeting modern functional requirements, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail in both planning and execution. The project, which commenced in January 2018, represents a significant achievement in architectural lighting design, successfully bridging the gap between traditional architectural preservation and contemporary lighting technology.
