The distinguished space, designed by Joe Chan and his team, demonstrates a sophisticated interpretation of neo-Chinese architecture through its innovative use of wooden lattices as a primary design element. The project's most notable feature is its creative implementation of dark brown wooden lattice screens and fences, which serve both as space partitioners and aesthetic elements, creating a harmonious balance between transparency and privacy. The design incorporates premium materials including desert metals, stones, coppers, and smoked oaks, while the installation of a custom black titanium-alloy ceiling in the sand table area, complemented by strategic lighting, creates a compelling interplay between void and solid spaces. The project successfully overcame significant challenges, including a compressed four-month timeline and the complex task of managing natural light through extensive window facades. The design philosophy draws inspiration from the surrounding mountainous landscape, employing the metaphor of moon and mountain to craft spaces that reflect both cultural heritage and modern sophistication.
