Sun Creams
Sun creams, also known as sunscreens, are topical products designed to protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation. These products contain a combination of organic and inorganic compounds that work together to absorb, reflect, and scatter UV rays before they can penetrate the skin. Sun creams are available in a variety of formulations, including lotions, gels, sprays, and sticks, and they are typically applied to exposed skin areas before going outside. The active ingredients in sun creams are typically classified as either chemical or physical. Chemical sunscreens work by absorbing UV radiation and converting it into heat, while physical sunscreens reflect and scatter UV rays away from the skin. Some sun creams contain a combination of both types of active ingredients for enhanced protection. In addition to UV filters, sun creams may also contain other ingredients such as antioxidants, moisturizers, and fragrances. Sun creams are an important tool for preventing sunburn, premature aging, and skin cancer. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 30, which provides protection against both UVA and UVB radiation. Sunscreen should be reapplied every two hours or after swimming or sweating, and it should be used in conjunction with other sun protection measures such as seeking shade, wearing protective clothing, and avoiding peak sun hours.
