Suivez le guide Flexible office is an innovative interior design concept that revolutionizes traditional office spaces through a series of seven mobile plywood volumes, designed to promote flexible and dynamic work environments. Created in 2012 for a design competition organized by the province of West Flanders, Belgium, this groundbreaking solution transforms large, empty office spaces into adaptable, multi-functional areas that cater to various workplace activities. Each volume, maintaining a consistent height of 2.10 meters and width of 3 meters while varying in depth from 0.6 to 1.5 meters, is mounted on a 13-meter steel rail system inspired by efficient archive storage solutions. The interior surfaces are lined with felt for acoustic optimization, and select units are equipped with battery-powered LED lighting. The design encompasses specialized functions including mailbox storage, private rest areas, individual and collaborative workspaces, meeting rooms accommodating different group sizes, and recreational spaces for activities such as golf or darts. This versatile system empowers users to reconfigure their workspace according to immediate needs, breaking conventional office furniture paradigms and responding to contemporary demands for adaptable work environments. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, exemplifies innovative space utilization through its mobile architecture and user-centric approach, effectively addressing the evolving nature of modern workplace dynamics while maintaining aesthetic coherence and functional versatility.
