Steam Traps

Steam traps are mechanical devices used in steam systems to remove condensate and non-condensable gases, while preventing the escape of live steam. They are essential components in steam systems, as they help to ensure that steam is efficiently transported to its intended destination, while preventing damage to piping and equipment. Steam traps work by utilizing the difference in density between steam and condensate. As steam flows through a pipe, it loses heat and condenses into water. Steam traps are designed to allow the condensate to drain out of the system, while preventing the escape of live steam. There are several types of steam traps, including float and thermostatic, inverted bucket, and thermodynamic. Float and thermostatic traps use a float to open and close a valve, allowing condensate to drain out of the system. Inverted bucket traps utilize an inverted bucket that rises and falls with the level of condensate, opening and closing a valve as needed. Thermodynamic traps use the difference in pressure between steam and condensate to open and close a valve. Steam traps are an important component in steam systems, as they help to prevent damage to piping and equipment caused by the buildup of condensate. They also help to ensure that steam is efficiently transported to its intended destination, reducing energy waste and improving system performance.
