Stagione Transformative Chair

Stagione Transformative Chair

Stagione Transformative Chair is an innovative and environmentally conscious furniture design that seamlessly transforms between a chair and armchair configuration, embodying the cyclical relationship between human-made objects and nature. Created by Greek designer Nikolaos Karintzaidis, this sculptural piece features flowing shapes inspired by natural landscapes and the seasonal changes of trees, particularly the transformation of leaves throughout the year. The chair's framework, crafted from solid canaletta walnut wood, incorporates organic curving that creates a distinctive sculptural quality, measuring 92 x 60 x 54 centimeters. A notable feature is its magnetic upholstery attachment system, which allows for shape modification and personalization, reflecting the temporal aspects of natural elements. The removable padding is constructed from textured hemp, chosen for its environmental sustainability, durability, and inherent flame-retardant properties. The design emphasizes emotional connection through its embracing form, which surrounds the user like a natural cocoon, while its overlapping fabric layers provide elastic support reminiscent of fallen leaves. The chair's ability to alter its appearance by removing upholstery configurations mirrors the seasonal shedding of tree leaves, revealing an underlying wooden structure evocative of tree branches. This transformative furniture piece, recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, represents a sophisticated blend of functionality, sustainability, and artistic expression, successfully establishing a creative dialogue between manufactured design and natural elements.
