Stacked Coffee Table Coffee Table
Stacked Coffee Table Coffee Table is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the intersection of playful aesthetics and functional craftsmanship, drawing inspiration from the casual arrangement of playing cards. This distinctive piece features three layers of mismatching veneered plywood panels, deliberately offset to create a dynamic visual composition that challenges traditional geometric furniture design conventions. The table, which received recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2019, represents a significant departure from conventional coffee table aesthetics through its celebration of wood's natural beauty and varied characteristics. Created by Studio Hemal Patel, the design showcases an intelligent approach to material optimization and assembly efficiency, requiring only 14 screws for complete construction and achieving assembly in under four minutes. The table's dimensions of 1150mm width, 600mm depth, and 360mm height are carefully calculated to maintain both visual appeal and practical functionality. Manufactured using FSC-certified woods including American Maple, European Oak, and American Black Walnut, the design demonstrates a commitment to environmental sustainability while offering versatility through its modular construction system. The concept of 'casual disorder' is masterfully executed through the strategic displacement of layers, creating an engaging visual narrative that transforms a utilitarian piece of furniture into a conversation starter. The design's innovative approach to flat-pack furniture combines aesthetic sophistication with practical considerations for storage and shipping, while its modular nature enables quick customization and efficient inventory management.
