Square Inside Circle Office

Square Inside Circle Office

Square Inside Circle Office is an innovative interior design project that masterfully integrates traditional Chinese philosophy with modern workplace functionality. Located in Taipei, Taiwan, this approximately 990-square-meter office space, completed in 2016, embodies the ancient Chinese concept of Yin (circle) and Yang (square), creating a harmonious balance between work and relaxation. The design, conceived by Shu-Yuan Chang, deliberately subverts traditional office stereotypes by positioning rest areas and multi-functional spaces adjacent to the lobby, fostering a home-like atmosphere that promotes employee well-being. The space features a sophisticated combination of raw materials including metal, stone, and linear elements, while incorporating intelligent control systems for lighting and air conditioning. The office's distinctive layout places particular emphasis on the multi-functional area, which includes a bar, dry kitchen, and wet kitchen, serving as a central hub that connects the main office, meeting rooms, and family activity spaces. This innovative approach to workplace design earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, receiving an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for its exceptional integration of functionality, aesthetics, and cultural elements. The design's success lies in its ability to create an environment that balances professional requirements with personal comfort, featuring thoughtfully arranged storage solutions, human-centric lighting, and carefully selected materials that contribute to both productivity and stress reduction.
