Squadra Credenza

Squadra Credenza

Squadra Credenza is an innovative furniture piece that exemplifies modern design principles through its sophisticated combination of functionality and aesthetic appeal. Created by German-based designer Valeriano Villegas Goyos, this three-section credenza represents a harmonious fusion of geometric precision and practical storage solutions, particularly suited for contemporary living and dining spaces. The design, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, features a meticulously crafted structure that incorporates two lateral hinged doors with adjustable internal shelves and two central deep drawers, all equipped with soft-closing mechanisms for enhanced user experience. The credenza's distinctive aesthetic is achieved through the thoughtful interplay of transversal and parallel lines, further accentuated by the deliberate contrast between two different wood species - sawed oak and black stained ash. The solid wooden structure is strategically reinforced in all structural areas and adorned with rich veneer panels, demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship in addressing complex woodworking challenges, particularly at intersection points. Measuring 220mm x 60mm x 75mm, this storage solution emerged from a 2014 private project in Mexico, originally conceived as an entertainment cabinet for a lounge area. The design philosophy behind Squadra Credenza draws inspiration from modern architectural elements and basic geometric forms, reflecting the designer's commitment to creating furniture that seamlessly integrates organizational functionality with contemporary aesthetic sensibilities. This piece exemplifies the successful marriage of form and function, where the natural beauty of wood is highlighted through defined shapes and proportional symmetry, establishing itself as a significant contribution to modern furniture design.
