Spring Breeze Office Space is an innovative architectural renovation project that transformed a 1000-square-meter steel-structured building into a sophisticated real estate company office space, exemplifying the harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese architecture with modern design principles. The distinguished project, conceived and executed by designer Qingtao Ji along with team members Yao Xiao and Mei Hong, features a remarkable wooden hanging house structure integrated within the existing building, drawing inspiration from the traditional hanging houses of southwest China. This architectural intervention creates a compelling visual dialogue between the delicate wooden construction and the industrial steel framework of the original building. The design employs traditional architectural techniques, notably utilizing tenon and mortise joints without nails, demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship and cultural authenticity. The space's functionality is enhanced through a thoughtful double-wall design that effectively manages the highland climate of Kunming, creating an optimal work environment while incorporating innovative sunlight control features. The project, which garnered a Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases outstanding spatial organization with a two-story ground structure and suspended rooms and corridors on three sides. The design's success lies in its ability to create a distinctive Chinese aesthetic within a modern architectural context, effectively balancing functional requirements with cultural expression through the strategic use of traditional furniture, decorative elements, and the masterful manipulation of natural light, which serves both practical and aesthetic purposes in the space.
