Spot UV
Spot UV is a print finishing technique where a clear, shiny coating is applied to specific areas of a printed piece, such as logos or images, to create a glossy highlight that stands out from the rest of the matte or uncoated surface. In print design, this method can be used to add texture and depth, making certain elements more noticeable to the touch and eye. Designers can use Spot UV to create patterns that are only visible when light hits the surface at certain angles, giving a hidden effect. This process can be layered with colored inks or used on its own for a subtle effect, and it works best on thicker paper stocks to avoid warping. Spot UV is applied using a screen printing process, which allows for precise placement on the design.
