Spirit Of Place Residential Apartment
Spirit of Place Residential Apartment is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of natural surroundings with contemporary living spaces. Located in Taipei and completed in 2014, this 83-square-meter apartment transformation masterfully addresses the challenge of connecting interior spaces with the external mountain landscape. The design philosophy centers on creating a flexible, open environment that maintains privacy while maximizing natural light and views. Through the strategic removal of existing partition walls and their replacement with movable see-through bookcases, the design successfully overcomes the spatial limitations imposed by structural columns. The interior aesthetic is characterized by a sophisticated material palette including marble, digital printed ceramic tiles, timber veneer panels, and grey mirrors, all carefully selected to reflect the natural elements of the surrounding environment. The project, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional space optimization through its innovative use of transparent divisions and thoughtful material selection. The design's emphasis on natural tones and minimal ornamentation creates an expanded sense of space while establishing a strong connection to the mountain views, effectively transforming a previously fragmented 40-year-old apartment into a contemporary living space that celebrates its natural context.
