Spidique Chair is an innovative furniture design that exemplifies the intersection of sustainable design principles and advanced manufacturing technologies. The chair's development employed the BESO (Bidirectional Evolutionary Structural Optimization) algorithm through Ameba software for topological optimization, resulting in a structure that maximizes efficiency while minimizing material usage. With dimensions of 808.56mm x 750.57mm x 799.28mm, the chair embodies the 'less is more' philosophy by achieving optimal functionality and aesthetic appeal with minimal plastic material consumption. The design process involved extensive research and development, incorporating computational design methods while maintaining essential ergonomic considerations. Manufactured using PLA through 3D printing technology, the chair demonstrates how modern production methods can address environmental concerns while maintaining design integrity. The project, developed between February 2022 and September 2023 in Chengdu, China, represents a significant achievement in sustainable furniture design, reducing material waste by approximately 25% compared to traditional manufacturing methods.
