Special Edition Porto Barros 100YO Packaging
Special Edition Porto Barros 100YO Packaging is an exemplary luxury wine packaging design that commemorates a century of Portuguese Port wine craftsmanship, earning recognition with a Golden A' Design Award in the Luxury Design category. This meticulously crafted packaging solution represents a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design sensibilities, created to house an exclusive collection of 1913 numbered bottles of Very Old Tawny Port. The design incorporates premium materials including solid oak, drawing inspiration from the aging barrels used in the wine's maturation process within the historic cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. The packaging's dimensions of 176mm width, 331mm depth, and 108mm height have been carefully considered to create an optimal presentation vessel. The exterior features a sophisticated combination of premium card and black fine paper, complemented by two solid wood halves that embrace the bottle, with textures that evoke the challenging schist soil of the Douro region. This limited edition design, conceived and executed between October 2012 and May 2013, exemplifies exceptional attention to detail in its construction, featuring a unique opening mechanism that creates a ceremonial unveiling experience, transporting users back to the brand's founding year of 1913. The packaging design successfully captures the essence of premium wine heritage while incorporating contemporary luxury design principles, demonstrating outstanding innovation in materials, form, and functionality that earned it recognition at the prestigious A' Design Award competition.
