Soo's 78 Residence
Soo's 78 Residence is an exemplary residential interior design project that demonstrates a harmonious blend of modern aesthetics and elderly-friendly functionality, situated in Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. This thoughtfully renovated 2,741-square-foot terrace house, completed in March 2022, represents a significant transformation of a two-decade-old structure into a contemporary living space that embraces the principles of slow living and natural integration. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space Design category, features innovative architectural elements including a distinctive double-volume ventilation block facade that serves both aesthetic and practical purposes, facilitating natural light penetration and air circulation while maintaining privacy. The interior space planning prioritizes openness and accessibility, incorporating a ground-floor open layout that enhances spatial flow and visual connectivity. Notable design elements include a double-volume outdoor courtyard garden with a raised platform, strategically placed skylights, and an emphasis on natural materials and soothing wood tones against an off-white backdrop. The residence showcases sophisticated solutions to architectural challenges, such as the creative integration of existing structural elements through feature paneling and layered ceiling designs. The project's commitment to sustainability and well-being is evident in its extensive use of natural lighting, incorporation of green spaces, and thoughtful material selection including durable natural quartz stone and wood flooring, creating a serene atmosphere that seamlessly connects interior and exterior spaces while addressing the specific needs of its retired resident.
