Songshan Cihui Temple - Ksitigarbha Hall Religious
Songshan Cihui Temple - Ksitigarbha Hall Religious is an exemplary architectural and interior design project that represents a harmonious fusion of traditional Buddhist spirituality and contemporary design aesthetics, located in Taipei. This remarkable religious space, designed by Parn Shyr, Yung-Hsi Peng, and Pei-Chi Hung, features a distinctive rectangular layout spanning 9 meters in width, 12 meters in length, and 9.5 meters in height, centered around a magnificent 3-meter-tall Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva statue. The design incorporates sophisticated elements such as a 9.5-meter Bagua diagram lightwell that channels natural illumination, complemented by crystal white chrysanthemum petals adorning its crown. The space's architectural narrative is enriched through meticulous material selection, featuring white marble flooring and walls, with 28 intricately carved marble columns symbolizing the 28 benefits of sutra chanting. The design's cultural significance is further emphasized through laser-cut acrylic renderings of the Original Vows of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Sutra on the walls, while the oval-shaped spatial arrangement ensures optimal viewing angles for worship. The project, completed in 2020, showcases innovative design elements including relief-carved marble walls depicting iridescent clouds, a jade-carved central statue, and citrine-made Cintamani, earning recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for its exceptional integration of spiritual symbolism with contemporary architectural principles.
