Soleil 88 Phnom Penh Residential

Soleil 88 Phnom Penh Residential

Soleil 88 Phnom Penh Residential is an innovative architectural development project in Cambodia's capital city that reimagines traditional row housing through contemporary design interventions. The project encompasses 88 row houses, with an initial phase featuring two show flats that demonstrate the revolutionary approach to urban residential architecture. The design's primary innovation lies in its sophisticated treatment of the façade zone, where staggered balconies are strategically inserted at different levels to create distinct buffer zones between individual units. This architectural solution transforms the typically homogeneous appearance of row house complexes into visually distinguishable individual residences while maintaining structural integrity. The design philosophy emphasizes the interplay between solid and void elements, creating dynamic patterns of light and shadow that enhance both aesthetic appeal and functional living spaces. The 1.5-meter façade intervention serves as a literal facelift to the existing structural skeleton, introducing recessed balconies that offer privacy from street view while accommodating the subtropical climate. The project, which received recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, represents a significant advancement in contemporary urban housing solutions, particularly addressing the evolving needs of young professionals in rapidly developing Southeast Asian cities. The design successfully balances respect for local architectural traditions with modern lifestyle requirements, incorporating features such as tilted windows to prevent overlooking between facing houses and covered roof gardens that honor cultural preferences while advancing contemporary living standards.
