Soho 352 Interior

Soho 352 Interior

Soho 352 Interior is a thoughtfully renovated 180-square-meter office space located in Singapore's eastern district, exemplifying the successful transformation of a 40-year-old residential apartment into a contemporary interior design firm's headquarters. The project, designed by Victor Ting, demonstrates exceptional architectural preservation while incorporating modern functionality and cultural elements. A defining feature of this interior renovation is the strategic creation of an air-well, which dramatically enhances natural light penetration throughout the space, establishing a harmonious balance between historical architecture and contemporary design needs. The design pays homage to Singapore's rich cultural heritage through the integration of Peranakan-inspired elements, particularly evident in the handrail design, which references the aesthetic traditions of this significant ethnic community that has been present in Singapore since its independence. The renovation carefully preserves select characteristic features of the original apartment building, creating a dialogue between past and present architectural elements. This thoughtful approach to adaptive reuse earned the project a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its innovative space utilization and cultural sensitivity. The design successfully demonstrates how historical structures can be reimagined for modern professional use while maintaining their architectural integrity and cultural significance, setting a noteworthy example in the field of commercial interior renovation.
