Snow Time Wine is an innovative packaging design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese yellow wine culture with contemporary aesthetic sensibilities. Created by designers Evan Chen and Ziming Guo, this sophisticated beverage packaging design masterfully incorporates elements of water, snow, glutinous rice, and time - fundamental components in the creation of yellow wine. The design's visual narrative eloquently portrays local mountainscapes and waterways, creating a cohesive artistic representation that resonates with both cultural heritage and modern sensibilities. The packaging, measuring 210mm x 80mm x 80mm, features meticulous attention to detail through its employment of glass bottle development, paper embossing, hot stamping techniques, and a thoughtful combination of solid wood and cork materials. A distinctive paper seal at the bottle's mouth simulates the dynamic opening of yellow rice wine, enhancing the ceremonial aspect of the drinking experience. The design successfully bridges the gap between traditional appreciation and contemporary market demands, particularly appealing to younger consumers while maintaining respect for the centuries-old yellow wine crafting tradition. This exemplary work in packaging design was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Packaging Design Category, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to the field of design and its innovative approach to cultural preservation through modern design language. The project, launched in Shaoxing in July 2020, demonstrates exceptional achievement in combining Chinese yellow wine culture with local city heritage, creating a sophisticated visual narrative through bottle label illustrations that incorporate time, lake water, glutinous rice, and snowflake motifs.
