Smart Data X You Exhibition is an immersive, multimedia exhibition installation that explores the complex ecosystem of data generation, processing, and application through interactive spatial design and real-time digital technologies, situated within the House of Digitalisation in Tulln, Austria, where it occupies over 500 square meters of exhibition space surrounded by a continuous LED wall exceeding 70 meters in length and reaching 4.5 meters in height. Designed by Responsive Spaces, a studio specializing in creative technology and tangible digital installations, Smart Data X You Exhibition employs a comprehensive didactic framework that guides visitors through an interconnected narrative exploring the origins and applications of smart data, utilizing eight state-of-the-art multimedia stations that each feature distinct interface approaches and digital components to explain how data is created, collected, and processed in contemporary digital environments. The exhibition's innovative design philosophy centers on making the abstract concept of digitalization tangible and omnipresent by connecting all exhibits and the surrounding LED wall in real-time, creating a responsive environment where every visitor interaction at any station influences the overall state of the showroom, thereby demonstrating the interconnected nature of digital ecosystems through experiential learning rather than passive observation. Developed between April 2023 and January 2024, Smart Data X You Exhibition addresses the challenge of presenting complex technological concepts to a broad demographic spectrum ranging from grammar school students to senior citizens, accommodating both digitally native audiences and those less familiar with technological systems through low-barrier, accessible interaction design. The technical implementation relies primarily on vvvv and Unity3D software platforms to orchestrate the synchronized behavior of the multiple interactive stations and the extensive LED wall system, creating dynamic visual narratives that adapt to visitor engagement patterns, such as displaying health-related data visualizations on the 360-degree LED wall when a visitor explores health data origins at one of the interactive stations. The spatial design integrates motion design, graphic design, user experience design, interface development, and 3D rendering to create a cohesive environment that balances educational content delivery with aesthetic impact and emotional engagement, reflecting the studio's philosophy of leveraging digital technology to propel storytelling to new experiential heights. Smart Data X You Exhibition represents a significant achievement in exhibition design by successfully translating abstract data concepts into physical, walkable installations that encourage active participation and discovery, demonstrating how interior space and exhibition design can employ real-time content generation and interconnected systems to create educational experiences that are simultaneously informative and entertaining.
