Slope Extension Residential House

Slope Extension Residential House is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies the creative transformation of a confined 59-square-meter living space through the strategic implementation of sloped surfaces, diagonal lines, and beveled corners. This Iron A' Design Award-winning project, designed by Chia Hao Tung, revolutionizes traditional spatial constraints by converting a closed floor plan into an open, flexible layout that maximizes visual depth while maintaining functional efficiency. The design's distinctive approach incorporates sophisticated architectural elements such as sloped ceilings, diagonally-laid wood flooring, and geometrically beveled cabinet corners to create an enhanced sense of spaciousness. The residence encompasses an entrance, living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, semi-open study room, multi-functional area, and two bathrooms, all thoughtfully integrated through a cohesive design language. Notable features include the innovative treatment of structural elements, such as the integration of a 70cm low beam within a sloped ceiling design and the artistic handling of an 80cm structural beam above the bedroom window through layered slanted panels. The project demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its material selection, incorporating wood, laminate, mineral paint, calcium silicate board, brushed metal, and corrugated glass to achieve its aesthetic and functional objectives. The design's sophisticated lighting strategy, including embedded indirect fixtures at slanted panel junctions, creates a warm and relaxing ambience while maintaining the space's contemporary character. Completed in June 2022 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, this residential project stands as a testament to the potential of innovative interior design to transform spatial limitations into architectural advantages.
