Slices Bookshelf is an innovative wall-mounted modular furniture system that transforms the conventional bookshelf concept into a three-dimensional decorative element, designed by Italian architect Alessandra Meacci in 2016. This sculptural storage solution represents a significant departure from traditional bookshelf design by incorporating artistic elements inspired by natural forms, such as leaves, fish, and octopi. The design consists of precisely laser-cut aluminum sections that create a sequence of supports, which not only serve as functional book holders but also compose a dynamic visual narrative that appears to emerge from the wall. Each module is crafted from 2mm aluminum sheeting, featuring a specialized mechanical joint system that enables secure assembly without welding, thereby preventing heat-related deformation. The dimensions vary according to the chosen motif, ranging from 600-1230mm in width, 250mm in depth, and 460-580mm in height. The design's distinctive feature lies in its ability to create varying visual experiences as viewers move around it, with the sectional elements playing with natural light to cast evolving shadows throughout the day.
