Slade Summer Foundation Exhibition Identity
Slade Summer Foundation Exhibition Identity is a sophisticated visual communication design project that exemplifies the fundamental principles of art and design through minimalist representation. Created by designers Daeki Shim and Hyojun Shim, this exhibition identity system encompasses a poster (594 x 841 mm), invitation card (145 x 100 mm), and digital promotional materials, drawing profound inspiration from Wassily Kandinsky's seminal 1926 work Point and Line to Plane. The design concept ingeniously reduces complex artistic works to their essential geometric elements, employing points and lines as symbolic representations of various artists' works displayed at the foundation exhibition. This innovative approach to visual communication demonstrates a deep understanding of abstraction and symbolism in design, where points represent the initial learning stages, lines symbolize the extension of knowledge and skills, and planes embody the culmination of artistic development. The project, executed through Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Effect, required meticulous observation of artists' developmental processes and thumbnail sketches, presenting a unique challenge in symbolizing evolving artworks. The design successfully creates an immediate visual impact while conveying exhibition information and artistic inclinations effectively. This work received recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, acknowledging its creative excellence and innovative approach to exhibition identity design. The project's significance lies in its ability to translate complex artistic concepts into accessible visual language while maintaining sophisticated design principles and professional execution.
