Skylight Sales Center
Skylight Sales Center is an innovative architectural and interior design project completed in 2020, located in the core area of Choujiang Street in Yiwu City, China, that masterfully addresses the challenge of insufficient natural lighting through an ingenious integration of traditional Chinese architectural elements with modern design solutions. The 600-square-meter space distinguishes itself through its sophisticated implementation of skylights, drawing inspiration from the traditional Chinese caisson patterns, which historically represented both aesthetic value and spiritual symbolism in ancient Chinese architecture. The design, conceived by Kris Lin and Anda Yang, effectively resolves the inherent spatial challenges of a deep interior space lacking extensive glass curtain walls by introducing natural light through the building's fifth facade. This architectural solution not only addresses functional lighting requirements but also creates a profound connection between interior and exterior spaces, embodying the traditional Chinese concept of heaven-earth communication. The project's excellence in merging practical functionality with cultural heritage earned it the prestigious Gold A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its innovative approach to space utilization and cultural integration. The design's success lies in its ability to achieve remarkable results through traditional materials and technologies, demonstrating exceptional cost-effectiveness while maintaining high aesthetic and functional standards. The ever-changing interplay of light and shadow throughout the space creates dynamic visual experiences that evoke contemplation and spatial appreciation, establishing a sophisticated environment that transcends its commercial function as a community sales center.
