Sky Garden Residential House
Sky Garden Residential House is an innovative residential architectural design that reimagines urban living through the integration of natural elements and flexible spatial arrangements. Conceived and executed by designers Chun Nan Liu and Chih Yun Lin in Taipei between April 2017 and August 2018, this 92.06 tsubo interior space draws inspiration from the concept of a magic cube, incorporating cyclical circulation patterns and adaptable doorways to create transformative living environments. The design philosophy centers on providing urban dwellers with a tranquil retreat from the rapid pace of modern life, emphasizing the connection between inhabitants and nature while fostering enhanced family interactions within the environment. The project's distinctive features include an ingenious use of mirrors and glass elements that amplify spatial perception and natural light distribution, creating an immersive atmosphere where light and shadow interplay throughout the interior. The architectural composition employs innovative structural solutions that enable multiple spatial configurations, addressing various user requirements through its dynamic public-private zoning capabilities. This residential design successfully challenges conventional urban living paradigms by incorporating green elements and flexible spaces within a city setting, effectively creating a personal sanctuary that connects with the building's dimensional and height characteristics. The project garnered international recognition when it was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2020, acknowledging its excellence in spatial innovation, functionality, and aesthetic achievement. The design's success lies in its ability to maintain a serene living environment within an urban context, effectively creating a sky garden that serves as both a functional living space and a natural retreat.
