Siphons For Carbonated Water

Siphons for carbonated water, also known as soda siphons or seltzer bottles, are devices used to carbonate water. These siphons consist of a pressurized container, typically made of metal, with a valve and a nozzle. The container is filled with water, and a small cartridge of carbon dioxide (CO2) is inserted into the valve. When the valve is opened, the CO2 is released into the water, creating carbonation. Siphons for carbonated water were first invented in the late 18th century, and became popular in the 19th century as a way to make carbonated water at home. They were particularly popular in Europe, where they were used to make soda water, a popular drink that was often mixed with fruit syrups or other flavorings. Today, siphons for carbonated water are still used by some people to make carbonated water at home, although they have largely been replaced by more convenient and efficient methods, such as soda makers. However, they remain popular among bartenders and mixologists, who use them to make carbonated cocktails and other drinks.
